Discover our new Summer Travel Series and 10 fresh travel photo book designs inspired by the latest travel trends. Hear the stories behind each collection, get tips from our designers, and find the style that feels right for your next adventure.

Our trips and adventures deserve more than a folder of photos on your phone and a fleeting moment on social media. A holiday album doesn’t just remind you where you went; it brings back what it felt like to be there.

That’s the thinking behind our new Summer Travel Series. Created by our travel-obsessed designers in London, Lisa and Winnie, our new travel series collection brings together 10 fully customisable travel photo books, along with matching personalised travel mugs and calendars.

Taking inspiration from editorial travel magazines, vintage postcards and timeless coffee-table books, this is a design collection that celebrates travel in all its forms. Here, Lisa and Winnie share their fave designs and offer their top tips for creating a travel photo album that’s every bit as memorable as the trip itself.

What are the biggest travel photo book design trends for 2026?

An open travel photo book on a table shows a double-page spread of a beautiful beach landscape alongside three smaller summer photos, illustrating Photobox's Travel Chapter design from the new Summer Travel Series.

The biggest holiday photo book design trends for 2026 are all about telling a more personal story. Rather than simply arranging photos on a page, the design helps capture the feeling of the trip, not just the places you visited.

Our Summer Travel Series brings together five travel design trends, each with its own character. Every travel photo album is fully customisable, so whether your trip was all about big adventures, slow mornings or somewhere in between, you can create something that feels unmistakably yours.

Trend: Modern Travelogue

The new Photobox Modern Travelogue photo book sits on a shelf, showcasing clean layouts and elegant typography inspired by travel magazines and coffee-table books.

Dramatic coastlines, colourful streets, incredible architecture: some places almost photograph themselves. Inspired by travel magazines and beautifully designed coffee-table books, Modern Travelogue gives those moments the space they deserve, using clean layouts, generous white space and elegant typography to let the destination do most of the talking.

The Travel Chapter

The Travel Chapter photo book design sits next to a matching mug from Photobox, featuring clean layouts and full-page photography for big landscapes and beautiful architecture.

Perfect for: Big landscapes, beautiful architecture and the photos you want to see across a full page.

What inspired the design?

Big, beautiful photography, clean layouts and just enough typography to guide you through the story without stealing the attention. The Travel Chapter takes an editorial approach, pairing generous white space with full-page photography to create a timeless travel photo book.

How does the design help tell your travel story?

For Lisa, The Travel Chapter is all about putting your photos in the spotlight and creating a trip photo album that just needs to be on display. “The Travel Chapter is one of those designs that just feels elevated the moment you look at it. The layouts are clean and thoughtful, with full-bleed photography that really commands the page. It’s the kind of travel photo album you’d leave out on a coffee table rather than tuck away on a shelf.

Refined. Atmospheric. Considered.

Full Story

A photo book, calendar and mug in the Full Story design from Photobox, featuring bold layered typography and editorial layouts that read like a travel journal.

Perfect for: Trips packed with memorable moments, where every page has another story to tell.

What inspired the design?

Some trips simply refuse to be edited down. Full Story was designed for those holidays, pairing bold layered typography with clean editorial layouts to create a holiday photo book that reads like your own travel journal.

How does the design help tell your travel story?

Lisa describes Full Story for when you come back from your trip with a story to tell. “The bold, layered typography gives it an almost book-like quality – like you’re writing your own travel story rather than just collecting photos. It works brilliantly across a mix of landscapes and candid shots, and the whole thing just feels like a narrative rather than an album.

Narrative. Story-led. Cinematic.

Travel Hues

A photo book and mug in the Travel Hues design from Photobox, featuring bold colour blocks inspired by destination palettes like Spain's terracotta tones and Norway's cool blues.

Perfect for: Travellers who remember places by their colours, atmosphere and sense of place.

What inspired the design?

There are destinations that stay with you because of their colours just as much as their landmarks. Travel Hues Series takes inspiration from destination palettes, from Spain’s warm terracotta tones to Norway’s cool blues, creating a travel photo album that captures the vibe of a place before you’ve even turned the first page.

How does the design help tell your travel story?

If the places you visit are defined as much by their atmosphere as their landmarks, this design captures both beautifully. For Lisa, Travel Hues is about reflecting the feeling of a destination, not just where you went.

The bold colour blocks are the first thing that catches your eye – each one rooted in the palette of that destination. It’s the design for someone who’s really immersed themselves in a place and wants the book to reflect that – not just a highlight reel, but the whole mood of being there.

Sights of the World

A photo book and mug in the Sights of the World design from Photobox, celebrating destinations through colour, typography and thoughtful organisation for building a travel library.

Perfect for: Anyone who dreams of building a travel library, one destination at a time.

What inspired the design?

Sights of the World celebrates destinations through colour, typography and thoughtful organisation – and is also Lisa’s favourite from the new travel series.

Every city has its own visual identity, its own light, its architecture, its whole colour story, and I really wanted a design that could capture all of that. I’m obsessed with a well-organised bookshelf… Having all your Spain books together, all your Italy books, all your France books. That kind of system is honestly so satisfying to create, and this design lets me do that with all my favourite trips.

How does the design help tell your travel story?

The beauty of Sights of the World is that it grows with you. Each cover features the year, country and destination, so every new trip becomes another volume in your own travel collection rather than a standalone book. The more you travel, the more your shelf starts to tell the story of everywhere you’ve been.

Collectible. Editorial. Timeless.

My Travelogue

A mug and a personalised photo book titled 'Mykonos', showing an image of the island, in the My Travelogue design from Photobox, where the title, destination and cover colour can all be customised.

Perfect for: Travellers who want to personalise every detail and create a collection that grows with each new adventure.

What inspired the design?

No two holidays are exactly the same, so why should every travel album look the same? My Travelogue was designed to be a starting point rather than a finished template. The title, destination and cover colour can all be personalised, making it easy to create something that feels uniquely yours.

How does the design help tell your travel story?

For Winnie, that flexibility is what makes the design special – and exactly what makes it her favourite holiday photo album design. “I’m most excited about the My Travelogue series. There’s something really satisfying about designing a collection that works as a whole. The customisable cover does a lot of the work here. You change the title, the colour, and the destination if needed. By being in control, it is instantly more you than generic.

Editorial. Personal. Collectible.

Trend: Holiday Escape

An open photo book shows a girl smiling by the sea on one page and a beach landscape shot on the other, illustrating Photobox's Holiday Escape design with immersive full-page photography.

Not every holiday is about ticking off landmarks. Some are all about slowing down, switching off and soaking it all in. Holiday Escape is made for those kinds of trips.

Think swimming pools, sea views, lazy lunches that drift into the afternoon and sunsets you wish lasted a little longer. Inspired by immersive photography and bold editorial typography, this collection uses full-page images and minimal text to let the atmosphere do the talking. The result is a personalised holiday photo album that captures how the trip felt, not just where you went.

Endless Escape

A photo book, mug and calendar in the Endless Escape design from Photobox, featuring an image of a hand reaching out to a starfish under the sea, ideal for beach holidays and island hopping.

Perfect for: Beach holidays, island hopping and those trips where the feeling matters just as much as the itinerary.

What inspired the design?

Endless Escape was designed around immersive, full-page photography that takes you right back there, whether that’s looking out across the ocean, cooling off in the pool, or watching the sun disappear below the horizon.

How does the design help tell your travel story?

For Lisa, Endless Escape is all about selling a feeling rather than a destination. Large photographs take centre stage, while bold, overlaid typography adds personality without taking over. It’s a great choice for trips where the atmosphere is every bit as memorable as the places themselves.

Atmospheric. Bold. Escapist.

Trend: Tactile Minimalism

A woman sits on the sofa next to a colourful cushion, looking at a personalised travel photo book titled 'Oslo', showcasing Photobox's new Summer Travel Series designs.

Sometimes, less really is more. Tactile Minimalism celebrates simplicity, using solid-colour backgrounds, lots of white space, and carefully framed photography to create a calm, gallery-inspired look. Muted tones, from deep navy and sage green to soft, sun-bleached neutrals, give the collection a timeless feel, letting your favourite moments stand out.

Archive Edit

A photo book and mug titled 'Tokyo' sit next to an image of orange shrines in Japan, showcasing Photobox's Archive Edit design with clean layouts and subtle cover illustrations.

Perfect for: Walks in the mountains, favourite cities and adventures you’ll want to revisit for years to come.

What inspired the design?

Archive Edit takes its inspiration from beautifully curated collections. Clean layouts are paired with subtle cover illustrations that hint at the character of each trip, whether that’s mountain landscapes, outdoor adventures or a favourite city, giving every book its own quiet identity.

How does the design help tell your travel story?

For Lisa, Archive Edit is, “a design for the traveller who collects experiences as much as memories.” While each cover illustration is unique, the consistent layout creates a timeless collection that sits beautifully together, no matter where your travels take you.

Three words

Heritage. Timeless. Classic.

Editorial Earth

A photo book and mug in the Editorial Earth design from Photobox, next to an image of a couple on a rock with mountains and water behind them, featuring bold cover typography and natural colours.

Perfect for: Travellers who love a clean, contemporary look with plenty of room to make it their own.

What inspired the design?

Editorial Earth is inspired by modern editorial design, using bold cover typography, natural colours and clean layouts to make the words as much a part of the design as the photography itself.

How does the design help tell your travel story?

For Winnie, the cover typography sets the tone before you’ve even opened the book. “The wording is fully editable, so whether your trip was a long-distance adventure, a weekend away or something completely unexpected, you can tailor the cover to reflect your own experience rather than someone else’s.”

Bold. Grounded. Cinematic.

Trend: Artisan Masking

An open photo book shows a beautiful landscape on one page and a picture of a girl captioned 'Sara' on the other, illustrating Photobox's Artisan Masking design with playful frames inspired by vintage postcards and postage stamps.

A different frame can completely change a photograph. Artisan Masking uses playful frames inspired by vintage postcards, postage stamps and architectural arches to present your photos in a more creative way.
It’s a simple idea, but one that gives each page a little more character without taking the attention away from the memories themselves.

The Open Arch

A photo book and matching mug in the Open Arch design from Photobox, featuring a father and two sons playing in the water, framed with soft arch-shaped borders.

Perfect for: Scenic views, slow moments and the photographs that deserve a thoughtful frame.

What inspired the design?

The Open Arch was inspired by one of the biggest interior and graphic design trends of recent years. Soft arch-shaped frames naturally draw your eye towards the photograph, almost as though you’re looking through a doorway into the scene beyond.

How does the design help tell your travel story?

Open Arch is almost like a window into the memory,” explains Winnie. “It gives each photograph a natural focal point while adding just enough detail to make the pages feel thoughtful and distinctive.”

Atmospheric. Dreamy. Wanderlust.

Trend: Graphic Getaways

A woman holds an open photo book on her lap showing different travel shots, illustrating Photobox's Graphic Getaways design inspired by vintage travel posters and illustrated city maps.

The best souvenirs aren’t always the ones you buy. Graphic Getaways takes its inspiration from vintage travel posters, illustrated city maps and the kind of beautifully designed keepsakes you’d happily bring home in your hand luggage. Combining bold typography, hand-drawn illustrations and destination-inspired colours, the collection celebrates the personality of a place as much as the memories you made there.

City Sketch

A photo book and mug titled 'Amsterdam' feature a sketch illustration of the city, showcasing Photobox's City Sketch design with original line art and destination-inspired colour palettes.

Perfect for: City breaks and destinations that stole a little piece of your heart.

What inspired the design?

Every city has its own personality, and City Sketch was created to celebrate exactly that. Each design pairs original line illustrations with a colour palette inspired by the destination itself, from Amsterdam’s soft tulip pinks and canal sunsets to Venice’s lagoon greens, Paris’ romantic reds and New York’s blue-grey skyline.

How does the design help tell your travel story?

For Lisa, the illustrations are what bring each destination to life. She explains that every city has “its own hand-drawn line art and a two-colour palette pulled from the vibrancy and symbolism of that city, giving the finished book that elevated souvenir quality… the kind of thing you’d genuinely want on your shelf or coffee table.

Three words

Vibrant. Illustrated. Bold.

How do you choose the right travel photo book design?

Two personalised photo books are stacked on a stool, the top titled 'Portugal' with a picture of Portugal, and the one beneath titled 'New York' with a picture of the city, showcasing Photobox's customisable Summer Travel Series designs.

With 10 designs to choose from, it’s easy to focus on colours, layouts or typography first. But according to Lisa and Winnie, the best place to start when creating your holiday travel photo book is with the trip itself. Ask yourself what you want to remember when you look back in a few years’ time.

Here are their top tips on how to create a travel photo book you’ll love:

  1. Match the design to the vibe of the trip. A relaxed beach holiday tells a different story to a fast-paced city break, so choose a design that reflects the mood as much as the destination.
  2. Think beyond one holiday. If you travel regularly, consider how your books will look together over time. Building a collection can make each new trip feel like another chapter of your adventures.
  3. Don’t be afraid to personalise it. As Winnie puts it, “Don’t feel constrained by the name or location of the book.” Change the title, adjust the colours and make the design your own.
  4. Let your favourite photos lead the way. Some designs suit bold landscapes, others work beautifully with everyday moments, family snapshots or a mix of both. Pick the one that complements the memories you want to relive.
  5. Remember, there’s no right or wrong choice. The best travel photo book is simply the one that feels most like your trip.
