More than just photos! Send a message in your Photo Book with famous quotes

Sometimes a Photo Book can be more than just a Photo Book – why not combine it with funny or inspirational quotations? Or you could take inspiration from The Bard himself, and pair some of Shakespeare’s greatest quotes with your favourite photos.

There are plenty of quotes to choose from – whether you’re celebrating a relationship, an adventure, or family life.

For example, you could mark a relationship with the classic lines from Sonnet 116:

“Love is not love, That alters when it alteration finds, Or bends with the remover to remove.”

Or how about something from Much Ado About Nothing:

“I do love nothing in the world so well as you—is not that strange?”

If you want to mark some of the great adventures you’ve had, you could use an inspiring quote from Measure For Measure:

“Our doubts are traitors, And make us lose the good we oft might win, By fearing to attempt.”

Or keep things light and happy, with this quote from As You Like It:

“I like this place and willingly could waste my time in it”

And if you want to celebrate your growing children, there are plenty of great quotes littered throughout Shakespeare’s works to help you. Like a classic from Hamlet:

“We know what we are, but know not what we may be.”

Or this great line from A Midsummer Night’s Dream:

“Though she be but little, she is fierce,”

or another from Much Ado:

“There was a star danced, and under that was I born.”

How to add text to your Photo Book

Whatever you’re trying to communicate, chances are the Bard can help you out. So the only thing you need to do is make his words look incredible.

There are a few different ways to get your quotes looking great in your Photo Book – so good they’ll deserve their own page.

The first is the easiest and most obvious: simply use a text box in our Photo Book Editor. By default the text will be small, the right size to work as a caption alongside an image. But we want something a little more striking.

Once you’ve typed in the quote you want do a little experimenting to make it look the way you want it. There’s a selection of fonts to choose from and a wide range of colours to really jazz things up – when you click on the colour box, you’ll see a link saying “Show more colours” that will show you the full range.

You’ll need to adjust the size of the text box as well as changing the font size – just click and drag the corner until it’s the size you want. Then just drag the whole box to the centre of the page.

If our text editor doesn’t match up with your creative impulses, that’s fine! You can always create your text elsewhere, and upload it as an image. You can use whatever creative tools you have installed on your computer or phone, or use an online tool, like fotor.com. We recommend using their Instagram template, as the square format is great for a striking block of text. In fact it’s such a good format, we chose a Square Hardcover Photo Book to match it!

Leave the background blank and select the text option. Click “Add subheading”, choose your font and colour and, when you’re finished, just save it as a jpeg and upload to your Photobox account.

Or to make things even more personal, type out the font in your own – or your child’s – handwriting. Calligraphr.com lets you turn handwriting to a font you can install on your computer. Create a template, using the lists at the side – make sure you have all the punctuation and accents you need – and print it out. Fill out each character box in your own handwriting, then just scan it (you can use your phone for this if you don’t have a scanner) and upload back onto the site.
