The People's Beatles Terms & Conditions of Entries.

The Basics of The People's Beatles

  • The People's Beatles is a global crowd-sourced photography project that aims to create a unique photographic biography of the Beatles – as seen exclusively through the camera lens of the fans who were there
  • We are calling on the public to raid albums & attics for unseen Beatles pictures that will chart the evolution of the Fab Four – images can be submitted between Wednesday 30th January and Friday 15th March 2019
  • The most engaging pictures will be selected to appear in The People’s Beatles coffee table book that we will made available to buy through Photobox during May 2019. All profits will be donated to Nordoff Robbins
  • These Terms & Conditions govern participation in The People’s Beatles. Read them carefully by submitting a photograph, you are agreeing to them.

The Process

You can submit an original digital photograph to The People’s Beatles by uploading it at www.peoplesbeatles.com, meeting all format, resolution or other requirements we specify there.

Submissions may be made between 00.01 on Weds 30th January 2019 and 23.59 on Friday 15th March 2019.

When submitting your photograph, you will be required to provide

  • Your name
  • The location depicted in your photograph
  • The time and date when your photograph was taken; and
  • A description / accompanying anecdote of your photograph.

To participate in The People’s Beatles you must be at least 18 years of age.

Both amateur and professional photographers are invited to participate.

We will use the email address you supply to contact you with information about the progress of The People’s Beatles , including as to whether or not your photograph has been selected for inclusion. You should ensure that you check that email address regularly, and that it remains a valid address. We aim to let you know whether your photograph has been selected for inclusion in The People's Beatles between 16thApril and 1st May 2019.

Photographs will be assessed as to their suitability for inclusion in The People’s Beatles by the The People’s Beatles team – with the final decision resting with the Picture Editor and Art Director,who will decide, in their judgement, which photographs provide the best or most appropriate representations of The People’s Beatles themes. Their and our decisions are final.

We may, in our discretion, require participants to confirm, by way of signature in writing, their agreement to matters referred to in these Terms & Conditions as a condition of their photographs inclusion in The People’s Beatles

Use of photographs

You authorise us, should we wish, to include the information referred to at paragraph 8 above, as adapted by us in our discretion, in the The People's Beatles book or in conjunction with other uses we make of your photograph.

As well as appearing in the The People's Beatles book, participating photographs may also be featured

  • on the People’s Beatles website
  • in emailed newsletters;
  • in press and other media releases; and
  • in social media postings and interactions
  • In accordance with relevant Photobox marketing campaigns

We may modify participating photographs for uses referred to in these Terms & Conditions, including (but not limited to) removal of “red-eye”, cropping, size changing, format conversion, detail enhancement and brightness enhancement.

We may add title and other descriptors of our choosing to participating photographs.

You grant us and our affiliated companies a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, adapt, distribute, publish and communicate to the public any photograph you submit to The People’s Beatles

  • as part of the The People's Beatles book; and
  • for the other purposes referred to in these Terms & Conditions.

Content of photographs

By submitting a photograph to The People’s Beatles, you confirm that

  • it is your original work;
  • you are the exclusive owner of any copyright in it;
  • it is not a copy of any other work (or any part of another work);
  • it conforms with our Content Rules (see paragraph 21 below);
  • anyone depicted in it has consented (or, where the person depicted is a minor, that minor’s parent/guardian has consented) to that depiction, and to the usage of the photograph referred to in these Terms & Conditions; and
  • the entrant, and everyone else involved with the photograph, has given up any right to object to the uses which we make of your photograph under these Terms & Conditions.

The Content Rules for photograph are that they must not

  • infringe any other rights, such as a trade mark, of any person or entity or a duty owed to any person or entity, such as a duty of confidentiality;
  • contravene, or advocate or promote the breach of, any applicable law;
  • include anything that is false, inaccurate, misleading, offensive, abusive, threatening or defamatory, or that might cause needless annoyance, inconvenience or distress to any person;
  • include any material containing personally identifying information about another person, such as their real name, address, phone number, or email address, except with the written approval of that person;
  • contain material which is pornographic, obscene, indecent or offensive, which promotes discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age, or that may incite hatred or violence against any person or group; or
  • harass, upset, embarrass, alarm or annoy any person.

You agree to cover and indemnify us against all liabilities, claims and expenses that may arise as a result of any breach of the confirmations you make in paragraph 18/19 above.

The People's Beatles Book

The People’s Beatles book will be made available to purchase through Photobox in May 2019. An exhibition of the photographs featured in the book will accompany the book launch in May 2019.

A minimum of £5 of the price paid for each The People’s Beatles will benefit Nordoff Robbins

General

Automated submissions are prohibited. We may take steps to inhibit or prevent the use of automated devices or programs for the making of submissions.

No purchase is necessary to make a submission to The People’s Beatles

We may change dates referred to in these Terms & Conditions where, in our discretion, such a change is reasonably necessary.

The provider of The People’s Beatles and Photobox is Photobox Limited (“we” and “us”), with an address at Herbal House, 8-10 Back Hill, London EC1R 5EN.

By making a submission to The People’s Beatles, you consent to the use of your personal data for the purposes stated in these Terms & Conditions.

If any part of these Terms & Conditions is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remainder shall remain valid and enforceable.

Our failure to act with respect to a breach of these Terms & Conditions does not waive our right to act with respect to subsequent or similar breaches.

The headings in these Terms & Conditions are for ease of reference only and do not affect the interpretation or construction of these Terms & Conditions.

You and we each submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts in relation to disputes arising in connection with these Terms & Conditions.

These Terms & Conditions and The People’s Beatles are governed by the laws of England and Wales
