This is How to Throw the Ultimate Hen Party

It requires extensive planning, questionable drinking straws, and a lot of Whatsapp pestering – it’s… the hen party. From capturing the day, to (trying) to remember it afterward, this is everything you need to make it a great one. Maids of Honour, assemble.

Announce the date

Getting a date locked in the diary with friends is enough to put anyone off a bottomless brunch. But, hen dos are different. They’re a big deal in the social calendar, so celebrate their importance with real-life invitations. Save the Whatsapp headache for a little later down the line and create personalised party invites for the whole group. Include a photo of the bride-to-be, the headline details (like venue, cost, and initial itinerary), and the wedding hashtag to get them hyped up. Our personalised cards, in packs of 10, are a fun way to do it. #TeamBride

Get the bride on board

The best hen parties usually come as a surprise to the bride, but when revealing the plans, why stop at a text message? Treat it like an episode of Don’t Tell The Bride, but with happy tears only, and create a photo book or scrapbook. Whether it’s a weekend overseas or a day out with close friends, include the travel and accommodation details, and an outfit brief on what to wear (bride’s got to know what to pack, you know?). A book is something they can keep forever and add extra photos to after the event.

Decorate with photo prints

When it comes to hen party decor, there are a few classics that usually make the list. Balloons, banners, an oversized, creepy cut-out of the groom… Something we’d really recommend to get the whole party smiling (and snapping away) is photo prints. Ask the group to send their photos of the bride across to you, then string the prints around the room. Our Retro Prints have a white border to customise digitally (or by hand) and add a caption, like the hashtag. And yes, embarrassing photos are absolutely encouraged.

Take hundreds more photos

Clear some storage in your camera roll, people: you’ve got some intensive snapping to do. Photographs are a hen do essential, especially when trying to remember what actually happened on it. Once the fun is over, and you’ve collected all the best shots, you can create a mini photo book to gift the bride. Our Little Moments Photo Bookis made for square-format photos, so you can upload straight from Instagram and create a perfect keepsake in no time.

Gift your hens

To any brides reading, this one’s for you. As thanks to your hens for making the party so special, why not treat them to a little something? We’re thinking personalised mugs with their photo and nickname printed on them (Two Pints Tess, we’re looking at you). Or for a gift that’s more low-key, but still full of sentiment, print a photo of you two together and write a note on the back. Thank your friends for joining the celebrations and mention a favourite memory together. It’s also a great opportunity to request that every photo is sense-checked by you before hitting social media. Thank us later.
