Fun games to play at your baby shower

You might expect a baby shower to be one of the tamest parties you’ll ever attend, with booze, (any serious) dancing and late nights off the table for the expectant mum, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be one of the most memorable. It’s not every day you get to be part of celebrating a brand new arrival in the world, and the sense of excitement and anticipation makes baby showers a great experience, with everyone joining together to support and celebrate a glowing mummy-to-be.

Cute themes, delicious food and, best of all, fun things to do can make baby shower planning anything but dull. So get ready for a midday party like no other and some serious fun you’ll always remember as baby’s very first celebration – here are some top tips for unique baby shower games that can help make the day really special!

Gender reveal vote

This is a great one if you know baby’s gender and haven’t revealed it yet. Have guests cast their votes at the door. You can do this by simply pinning up a chart and asking them to mark a tally, or be a bit more creative, like placing coloured pebbles in decorated jars – pink for a girl, blue for a boy.

Push the boat out a little further and have guests cast their vote by picking a specially mixed baby shower mocktail. These look gorgeous served up in mason jars and you’ll easily be able to tell who picked a blue creation for a boy or a pink tipple for a girl.

Baby bingo

A game you can just print out and play, everyone loves bingo, so why not make it baby-themed? Give every player a card and a pen, and get calling out those items! Winners can get an extra helping of sweet treats.

The bucket list

This is the perfect way to prepare mum for all the ups and downs that await her first year of parenthood. Give guests a pen and paper and have them write down one thing mummy and daddy should do during the first year with their bundle of joy. This can be something completely crazy like “Take baby to tea at The Ritz” or just one of the realities of motherhood like “change your first nappy”. Display them as a line of notes hanging in baby’s room, or an enveloped memory book so mum can look back on everything she’s got to look forward to!

The no-name game

Another super-fun printable games, this game sees you printing off name tags and filling in the blanks with popular baby items. This can be anything from ‘bottle’ to ‘teddy’ to ‘nappy rash cream’! Distribute the name tags among your guests, anyone who refers to a person by their real name will pay a penalty- how about the ‘Poopy Diaper’ game?

Pin the dummy on the baby

Like pin the tail on the donkey, but much more in-theme! You’ll need a blind fold, a baby image – this can be as simple as a hand-drawn image, or as fancy as a poster print-out – and a print out of a dummy to pin to it. The winner can even get the honour of revealing the gender in the most fabulous of ways.

Gift opening

It’s the highlight of any baby shower, so be sure to make the most of it! Get your guests comfortable with yummy refreshments and gather them round for the great gift unwrapping. Personalised baby gifts are a great way to give real sentiment to any present, and a great way to unwrap all the goodies is as a pass the parcel game. Mummy might get the prize every time, but there’s no reason you can’t put fun forfeits in each unwrapped layer like “share your most embarrassing childhood memory” or “help mummy carry the load – have her sit on your lap until the next round”!

With all these great tips, we’re sure you’ll have a fantastic time preparing for your bundle of joy’s arrival in the world! Got an idea we haven’t included? Let us know in the comments below!
